The Winter Letters

The Winter Letters is a game about love. 

This is an epistolary roleplaying game featuring two player characters who once loved each other reconcling in a cold winter. It is played in real time, using real letters -- or emails, or other form of communication -- over the course of 3 months.

In The Winter Letters, you adopt the role of a character writing to your partner's character. You are not allowed to acknowledge that you are playing a game. You simply begin. Your character is writing to theirs because they love them, but you two have drifted apart. You have 3 months to write to each other to heal the rift.

This is not a game about the fantastic, the shocking or the heroic. It is about the everyday business of the human heart. It is about trust. It is written in the belief that love is the point of all of this.

If you print the game out on double-faced A4 paper, the title page and info page are laid out to be folded into an origami enveloped you can store the game's rules in, if you fold them sufficiently.
